.: The Beacon--Pt 4 :.Wow..
It's been so long,
since I've sung anything,
that some darn cat...
decided to pull on my tongue.
All that came out,
when I tried to sing along
with Hartley's ukelele playing,
was complete, and utter silence.
Then, a croak,
that he later said sounded,
like a toad getting punted.
Hehe, I don't even know what
but the way he said it, while chuckling hard,
made it seem like the funniest thing in the world.
After warming up my voice,
with funny vocal exercises
(given by Hartley)--
I was ready to try again.
I took a deep breath,
and paused to look at Hartley
for what could have been the last time.
"Hey..", he started to say with a lopsided smile.
"..This was bound to happen..", he finished,
I knew he was right...
but I also knew that there
was something else I had to do first.
So, I rushed towards him,
and crouched down to hug him tight.
"..Woah!", he responded.
He quickly set down his ukelele,
and thankfully, hugged me back.
"...ju-just roll with it, Hartle
is this really what it means,
to care about someone?
Frustration and anger,
distress and sad glances?
Sometimes you really make me question
what the heck the point of this is...
But whenever I'm close,
to just giving up completely..
You...you come back to me..
Somehow you overcome your own stubborness,
and you of all people apologize,
and you try and make things right--
and that's something that I love about ya.
'Cause it's not just your arms,
that are wide open anymore--
it's also your heart...
Did I help do that?
I see it.
That fantastic bird,
with its great beak and colorful feathers...
flapping its way to who knows where--
just above the horizon.
I think it got lost,
from the others,
and now it's trying to get back
to where it was supposed to be.
Gliding in between clouds,
dodging helicopters and planes,
stopping to eat food,
and falling asleep under its own gigantic wings.
I bet one day it met one of its predators,
and attacked it with all its might;
only losing a tiny feather,
in the battle of the birds.
Now...I can barely see it,
as the sun rises higher in the sky,
seeming to radiate its light onto
that lone bird.
it may even find that the place
it was meant to go,
may not be the place it wants to be.
But that's for it to decide, isn't it?
of a broken heart,
didn't seem possible--
'til we split apart.
You were my muse,
and my everything.
Now all I wake up to,
is my cold bed--
My heart misses you,
heck, my head does the most,
'cause without your support,
I'm as fried as toast...
..I miss you...
dead dog julyI.
the summer heat lays limp in the city’s lap,
breathing long oppressive breaths.
it does not even lift its lolling head
to bark out hoarse indignancy
when a strange man brings the mail.
there might be heavy rain today,
brought by some swollen, murmuring cloud.
the world will whirl and howl,
then settle down,
to die a little more.
o, quickly, love,
press your back against the wall in fear
as the universe spreads her arms and
shuts her eyes
and starts to summon the end of all things.
come with me
to the place of windows full of speechless afternoon
hot windy whispers of half-formed solutions and resolutions,
sweltering sunlit meadows we’ll wander and then forget.
o quickly, love,
let’s to the season of forgetting
and unwind all of our harshest memories
and fill the universe’s mouth
with mute cotton.
i’ll whisper these words to you some evening
with all my exigency in the hand i rest on your arm—
